Bare with me !

OK ! I’m In !!
This debate on whether I should join the bandwagon of bloggers is finally over!
For the longest time I had been raking my being, on whether I should be out here. I had a couple of things holding me back
1. Time
2. Commitment
3. Motivation and
4. Apprehension that came with limited knowledge of the Blogging milieu!
Almost all of these have been resolved. I now understand that, to have time, you make time, and that itself should take care of commitment. Motivation came from my wonderful friend (a blogger herself) and my natural desire to be heard and to hear.
After all of about 5 minutes today to make up my mind and setting this thing up…I now am amidst you. I decided I will skip a meal to get my creative juices flowing to get me started.

I have always loved writing as a child and as a teen, as a youngster, a monster…. er.. when the opportunity presented itself- mostly to vent or perhaps because I couldn’t get an audience with ears !
Most of what I have written have now made their way into layers and layers of recycling. I guess I can say that I was going ‘green’ quite early. Hmmm…….I digress..
This revelation should come as a shocker to some, yet some others have often told me to write, simply because I talked a lot, or maybe I drank up their phone minutes!
But like all introductions I have several people and occasions to thank for this, this decision to actually start writing, and they are

1. My parents
They were - naturally- the first people who inspired the writing bug in me. Though the inspiration wasn’t exactly active and direct, I often wrote when they shared their feelings and I was moved- usually away from the Television, because my report card came back in Technicolor especially around the Math and Science columns. Since I knew that sharing my side of the story was not exactly smart, when Mom was sharing hers, I wrote later, cos I had a lot to say
My Dad however, inspired me and my siblings simply by being ‘my dad’. He was a gifted writer, singer, a small time actor and he loved to read voraciously. He wrote exceptional plays, scripts, songs, poems and stories in the Malayalam language. God decided to bless each one of his 3 children, with most of his talents. My brother sings, my sister sings, dances and writes and I well I now, blog.

2. My Siblings
Now, while my parents were the first ones to start this all, my siblings simply drove it easily, constantly and painfully by being themselves. I am a middle child and that is self explanatory. Writing, often came naturally, with them around- especially around summer vacation when we really didn’t have much going on or when our friends travelled. We would end up making those really unhealthy plans, to give in and play with each other. It was usually a common board game, football or even better- wrestling! ( My brother’s favourite). I was able to vent using my hands first, thankfully when my siblings ‘inspired’ me and then maybe later the pen. [Sometimes, I must say a simple pen in the house was claimed by all three of us at the same time and by the time we tried to resolve the issue with my mom, somehow my dad would take care of it. None of us would see the pen for a loooooooong time.]

3. My Husband
After 9 years of marriage..I now have a lot to share and I understand a lot. He has inspired different kinds of writing. Before we got married, I remember writing ever so much about him and blushing simply because I was so in love.
When we were first married, I wrote a lot about him and blushed because I was in love and thought I couldn’t have married or been with someone better.
Today after these many years of togetherness, I blush… and then I have to write… maybe a note of apology, a forgotten check or a list of things to buy from the grocery store.

4. My beloved friends inspired me to write. I have been blessed with some wonderful and dear friends like any gal and they did the actual pushing, being great writers and great women themselves. Just being a part of their lives and having them in mine is a reason to write, though i could never hold a candle next to their literary prowess. Thanks girls, you know who you are!

5. Writers like the late Barbara Johnson, Erma Bombeck, Thelma Walsh, Patsy Clairmont are just some of them I have always loved. Their books often made me wish I could write. I love the humour and spirit with which they conveyed everything from recipes and life lessons. I easily took to them because of my innate need to laugh more than think.
My screen name owes its roots to one of Barbara Johnson’s reflection on how shocked she was, when she discovered that her son was Gay. She often wondered in the book that, she was so out of it that a lot of her friends must have pondered on whether she belonged to the ‘home for the bewildered’. Though I have never had to deal with anyone I know, to actually have come out of the closet, Barbara’s ‘home for the bewildered’ always cracks me up.

I hope to address other Women’s issues, a platform very close to my heart and I think women have a lot, and I mean a LOT to say. I also hope to include my other hormone driven passions like food, entertainment, motherhood and whatever rules the day in my life onto my hormone driven posts.
My thoughts on faith in my life should make its way occasionally onto these pages too.
Now that I have run out of my allotted time, and my lunch beckons, I thus declare myself virtually devoted to baring my life with u and hope to read your thoughts too (gulp!).
Salut!
